    The new Brain Lair Bookstore, which promotes diversity and inclusion through literature, has opened its doors at 714 E. Jefferson Blvd. in South Bend.

    Camellia Cosmetics has added The Salon at Camellia featuring Melissa Markovic offering both event styling and walk in client service.

  • Capital Tire

    Capital Tire, a wholesale tire company, has moved from its Elkhart location and opened its doors to a new South Bend location at 4167 Meghan Beeler Court.

  • City of South Bend Redevelopment Commission

    The city of South Bend's Redevelopment Commission approved $2.7 million for the establishment of a Technology Resource Center (TRC) inside the Catalyst Two building at South Bend's technology park, Ignition Park. The 12,500-square-foot-center will focus on solving problems and creating greater efficiencies through technology.

  • The Commerce Cneter Project

    An estimated $40 million mixed-use project that will include a grocery store and an estimated 140 apartments with a parking garaage. Ground breaking is set for this autumn.

  • Embassy Suites by Hilton

    Located on the south side of E. Angela Blvd and adjacent to Eddy Street Commons is an upscale hotel with 164 one-bedroom and studio suites. The hotel features 9,000 sq ft of conference and banquet space, a sixth floor deck, and a full service restaurant, Traditions with seating for 180.

  • Gabe's

    Retail discount chain-store Gabe's to open in September in the former H.H. Gregg location, next to Bed Bath & Beyond in Indian Ridge Plaza at 5802 Grape Rd. in Mishawaka.

  • Hibberd Building

    A multi-million renovation of the Hibberd Building at 320 S. Main St. into a mixed-use facility. Opening late fall.

  • Hydro Extrusion North America

    Hydro Extrusion North America, a manufacturer of aluminum products in North Liberty (South Bend Region) is planning a $9.5 million expansion, and will receive a $1.1 million tax break over a decade. The company currently employs 180.

  • Indiana Department of Workforce Development

    The Indiana Workforce Development created the Skill UP Grant opportunity to assist regions working to meet Indiana's projected need to fill more than one million jobs over the next decade. South Bend | Elkhart has been awarded $1.7M in Skill Up funding to support and advance the alignment of education and training in our region to meet industry needs.

  • The Ivy at Berlin Place

    A $22 million mixed-use project just north of the Studebaker project and the Covelski Stadium. Including 121 market rate apartments and 10,000 sq ft of restaurant/retail space. Slated to open this fall.

    The nonprofit Neighborhood Development Associates LLC plans to convert the former South Bend Brewing Association building, 1636 Lincolnway West, into a22-unit apartment building. A second project to beautify the west side will include building single family rental homes.

    Pink Pinapple Boutique is open, located in Mishawaka's Heritage Square, 7225 Heritage Square Drive Suite 240 in Mishawaka will feature women's apparel, accessories, and gifts at a reasonable price.

  • Studebaker Complex

    The Studebaker Complex is an on-going, multi-million dollar redevelopment into a mixed-use techology hub.

  • Tampico's Mexican Grill

    Tampico's Mexican Grill at 901 W. Fourth St., Mishawaka, is open Monday through Thrusday from 11 am to 8 pm, and on Fridays and Saturdays from 11 am to 9 pm.

  • The nonprofit Neighborhood Development Associates LLC

    The nonprofit Neighborhood Development Associates LLC plans to convert the former South Bend Brewing Association building, 1636 Lincoln Way West, into a 22-unit apartment building with common spaces for residents to use. Additionally, a second project to beautify the west side entails building single-family rental homes on 14 empty lots where houses were demolished under Buttigieg's 1,000 Homes in 1,000 Days program.

  • Three Twenty at the Cascade

    A first phase project being devloped on the old Wharf site east of downtonw South Bend. A seven-story sturcture that will include 19 luxury condo, parking garage and one street-level restaurant.

  • University of Notre Dame

    The University of Notre Dame's College of Engineering, in partnership with Notre Dame Research, the Center for Social Concerns and the IDEA Center, has launched the Center for Civic Innovation to focus on innovative solutions to community and quality of life issues. The center will bring Notre Dame together with local stakeholders to find solutions to various issues, such as safe and affordable housing, lighting and stormwater management. Additionally, the center will introduce young people to in-demand careers int he STEM fields through its work in local primary and secondary schools.

  • Washington-Colfax Apartments

    A 3.2 million renovation of the historic Washington-Colfax Apartments by South Bend Heritage in to Gemini Apartments is already underway and aims to create 60 affordable studios and apartments within walking distance of downtown South Bend.
