 In less than an hour's drive, you can find yourself at a beach along the sand dunes of Lake Michigan or, in the other direction, enjoying quaint Amish Country. Chicago is just 90 minutes away by car.

Here, you can actually live where you work, with average commute times of just 20 minutes. The South Bend International Airport is the second busiest airport in the State of Indiana, where you can not only catch a commercial or private plane but also a bus or electric train to Chicago.

Our region offers many varied job opportunities for you and your family. You may also be surprised at the abundance of big city amenities in our area, but reassured to find that we still take the time to nod to our neighbors and welcome our newcomers.

Five major universities including the University of Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s College, Bethel College, Holy Cross College and IU South Bend, call the South Bend Region home. We are served by two major hospitals, Memorial Hospital and Saint Joseph Health System in Mishawaka.
