Technology Resource Center Coming to South Bend

Published Monday, July 2, 2018

The city of South Bend's Redevelopment Commission approved $2.7 million for the establishment of a Technology Resource Center (TRC) inside the Catalyst Two building at South Bend's technology park, Ignition Park. The 12,500-square-foot center will focus on solving problems and creating greater efficiencies through technology.

The center will connect local parties from business and the public sector with tools to collect, analyze and utilize data to achieve greater productivity. This effort will encourage collaboration among business, education, as well as the public and nonprofit sectors. The center allows South Bend to compete further on the global technology stage and can help to attract new businesses looking to relocate to the area.

It is also expected that the center will be used as a meeting space for workshops and for groups to collaborate on solving problems using technology.

Project Manager Jacob Burnett indicated, in the South Bend Tribune, that they are seeking out grants and other opportunities for partnerships to build a foundation for further investment in the center. The funding by the Redevelopment Commission will cover the center's operations for four years. The center is expected to open in early 2019.
